Souvenirs is a collection of nine original songs for those of us that like to drum on the dashboard and play air guitar. That person in the front row or in the greys up by the ceiling at Maple Leaf Gardens knows what I mean. We live for the moment when a friend says "listen to this!" We become detectives, researchers, collectors and curators from the first snippet of any song that banged a gong. Then there was the time it only took a single Spanish guitar and a microphone and we're off again chasing that sound well beyond the curve of the earth. I was there listening and playing along from my basement. I still have the souvenirs.
A SOUVENIR ABOUT THOSE SONGS THAT COME FROM OVER THERE SOMEPLACE.
FOR PEPE & YEYA
Some of us know what its like to live in a house where at any given moment, you could be yelled at in three different languages at the same time lol. The good news is that you get front row seats to music and rhythms from these places. These voices and sounds never really fuse into one, but teach you like a village raises a child.
So this Brazilian met this Cuban and they lived happily ever after. Or was it an Italian met this Venezuelan? No matter, it's all about the groove and flirty syncopation. You can eat the rhythm section on this one for nourishment lol.

A SOUVENIR OF THOSE SONGS THAT TELL A STORY LIKE A MOVIE IN JUST OVER 3 MINUTES
I'm talking about those hip shaker guitar hooks, riffs and licks that steam up the windows! Picture this: On the night before the wedding, our hero loses the grand in his pocket. He won't be able to pay for the wedding and his father-in-law will finally have proof that he's a bum! He's in and out of trouble and running around all night with his mates. But in the end we learn that love is companionship and very real, because everyday you wake up feeling like you are $1000 richer. Cue the track and ...Action!!
Imaging a young person asking his way OAF friend the question "How do you know that they are the special one?" Put the answer to music and voila! A souvenir of a 60s -like surf beach love affair, that happened in the 80s and is still being told today. BTW - Listen for that whammy bar!

Forgive Or Forget
When you listen to this, imaging the bass line is speaking the truth, the drums are how you feel on the morning after, and the guitars are teary-eyed confessions that it really does hurt sometimes. Exhale my friend, the bass knows the way out.
